I would just like to know what are the advantages/disadvantages of the two features so I can decide on which to use more than the other. I'd also like to know if tag tabber is color customizable. Last I checked it didn't load scripts for the contents of each tab but from what I see on your wiki that has changed and some scripts are loaded.Tabs have dynamic styling, inherited from Theme Designer.Loads each tab content separately, which reduces overall page load time, but adds delay between loading tab content.Allows easy nesting (tabber within a tabber).Adds less position styling = doesn't disrupt page layout much.Loads all the content on page load = no need to wait when switching tabs, but longer wait for the whole thing to load. Some, like for sortable tables or nested tabview, aren't. That means you might lose some of the functionality you have on the content pages. Generally I'd recommend tabview if you have large (load slowly) content pages to transclude, for every other occasion I would use tabber. You can style the tabber through Wikia.css, the whole sheet can be found here. Sovq 06:58, Octo(UTC) I was in a slightly similar discussion on another wiki. Tabview Edit Edit source History Talk (0) p1 p2 Categories Categories: Add category Cancel Save. One of the problems with TabView is that it doesn't display correctly in the Monobook or wikiaphone skins, but the amount of people using them is most likely a minimum. Deltaneos ( talk) 12:07, Octo(UTC) In my experience, Tabview tends to get broken periodically by changes that Wikia makes. It has been broken severely at least three times in the roughly 1 3/4 years that I have been using it on BioShock Wiki. Of course, Wikia is usually quick to fix the problem once I have reported it. I have found sooo much success following user guide and showcase and sample (JSF/PrimeFaces) code that I have found by searching google.I haven't used Tabber at all, so I have no idea whether or not it has a similar history of breaking. If it does not, then always follow the user guide or showcase.Īgain, look at the URL I provided above and proceed as advised here in this post. If you want the automatic, you may want to remove p:ajax event="tabChange", and just rely on the tabActiveIndex getter/setter methods, and see if that gives you the 'automatic update'. You added p:ajax event="tabChange", so write the rest of the code which is required for tabChange event as detailed/documented in showcase and user guide. If you look at the tabview tabchange listener, you will 'not' see any 'automatic update' mentioned in that tabchange.
